I am well known for my long beachy waves. This is a look I long strived for after obsessing over images of Giselle from the Victoria’s Secret runway show. How in the hell did this girl achieve such undone sexy hair!? I watched time and time again, my hair stylist (Jorge Serrano) made it happen on my head… but I could NEVER do it myself. I found myself watching the Real Housewives of Orange County one night, super late. One of the housewives (I think her name was Gretchen) talked about how she still used hot rollers on her hair… WOW! I thought… I haven’t used those since high school… I couldn’t imagine hot rollers actually working… let alone making her hair look so insanely perfect! So, the next morning I made a special trip to Target to try and find hot rollers. All I could remember was those terrible white hard, hot, uncomfortable rollers that I had to stuff tissue under to protect my ears from burning off my head. I was skeptical to say the least. When I got to the aisle, I was surprised to see new, updated, fabulous velvet rollers, with cool new self-heated clips… that hold them in place, while on your head!
OOOhhhh, fabu! This is gonna work! ![]()
They are called Remington T Studio Collection. The best part of these hot rollers, is the fact that the clips that come wrapped around the velvet rollers have a heated patch on each of them… so they make sure that the WHOLE length of your hair gets the heat distributed! I highly recommend THIS set of rollers!
Even if you have shorter hair, hot rollers give such amazing volume… you will end up with beautiful Marilyn Monroesque hair! Your man will love it, and you will get non stop compliments! Trust me!
Make sure you always set your hair with a thickening serum like Kerastase Expanseur Extra-corps. It will help give you hold, and thicken your hair, if you have fine hair like mine!
I would love to hear all of your feedback on this, as this is one of my FAVORITE ways to do my hair!

Jenna!
Thank you so much for starting a blog. I love it! I’m such a big fan…
October 2nd, 2009 at 9:12 pm
Aww do show pics on how to apply them! I’ve got hair rollers I bought…two years ago, more or less, & they’re just sitting there, gathering up dust. I wish I knew how to vary my hair other than straighten it & ponytailing it
Aww I wish I can also meet you one day, you seem really down-to-earth

Using hot rollers has always been my go to for retro hair. I’ve got a swing dress I never wear unless my hair is fun and curly.
While hot rollers may be my tried and true method, your product suggestions are AMAZING! I always need new things to try out on my eternally flat hair.
also, I’ve got a total crush on you!

Please post pics, JJ! Or if you have time, a step by step tutorial. Anytime I try to do beachy waves I end up looking like Howard Stern!

Thank you so much for blogging about your hair products. I have fine hair also and it is hard to find products that work. Keep up the good work!
October 2nd, 2009 at 10:21 pm
thanks jenna.. i’ve seen the rollers at walmart, but i’ve never known how to use hot rollers so i’ve never bought them before..

Thankfully I have been gifted with naturally curly hair, that I have no need for rollers, but the look of the beachy waves is georges.

Have you ever known anyone to actually use the coke cans for rollers? I have a ton of hair and the bad thing about the hot rolls is that you have to buy two sets, just to use the biggest ones.
I love to see new product reviews, but you know everyone has those personal beauty tips they learned from the beautiful classic women in their lives. We all have them. Stunning mothers, that breathtaking cousin or regal aunt. I always take off my eye make up with petroleum jelly. It is the only thing that takes the glue from the butterflies and the extended wear liners. My lids always feel super soft.

I still do the hot rollers and they do make my hair look like it took me hours to fix but in reality, only 20 to 30 minutes with a little tease and some frizz hairspray. I like John Freda hairspray and I keep the curl in by spraying the curl booster before I curl and after. The curls don’t go away, they stay all day.
NICE BLOGS!

Cool- I have regular curler and a curling iron and alternates between both. It would be interesting to try smth that combines the two- I’d heard of it before but never seen it. You look beautiful with the beachy waves!

cant get these in united kingdom
they wont even ship on any websites,so got some other heated rollers instead xx
October 3rd, 2009 at 5:39 am
Hi Jenna!
Another way to do it is to use your flattening iron, its really easy and fast. Using your flattening iron might sound strange but it gives you those “beachy waves” instead of the more defined ones you get from a curling iron.
Btw I love your blog and wish you all the happiness in the world, you seem like an amazing person and mom.
Love Emelie from Sweden;)

Thank you soooo much for this tip. I love Giselle and her hair and you’ve answered every question I have concerning the beach waves. You ROCK sista! Keep up the fabu advice.

I have these! (yay target!) They are so easy to use and take much less time than the curling iron.
October 3rd, 2009 at 9:42 am
thanks for the tip, but I don´t know if I can find them in Sweden, but I am going to look it up! but I must admit, they look a bit hard to use… Love M

That is awesome! I have the hardest time getting curls to hold in my hair because it is so thin. SO I am definitely going to try these out.

Hey Jenna!
I love love love your new website!!! Your tips are AWESOME, looking forward to more! Have a amazing day! French kiss!
October 3rd, 2009 at 11:55 am
I use the exact same set of hot rollers and they really do work that well! My hair usually never stays curled after hot rollers for more than an hour, but the heated clips make them last all day!
October 3rd, 2009 at 1:50 pm
love hot rollers in the hair! I sometimes do old grandma style velcro rollers while in the car while on the way to a friends house to pre-game before we go out.. works wonders! love this site for inside info too.. bc I trust you’ll give us the scoop for reall

October 3rd, 2009 at 5:41 pm

October 3rd, 2009 at 6:46 pm
im a hair dresser and i have been using hot rollers in my hair for about 3 years. i love them!! its so much better than a curling iron because it doesnt make the curls flat, it makes them softer. it works really good with short layers too and it doesnt mess up my great length bodns either! its hard to find a set with all big rollers….im gonna buy the ones u have!
October 3rd, 2009 at 8:23 pm
Jenna,
I was so happy to see that you posted this blog entry. I have super fine hair and the only time I could ever have nice curls and them stay is if my hair dresser would do it with a straightener. And I am so beyond hair retarded, I don’t know how to curl w/a straightener! So I will definitely be going out to Target tomorrow and purchasing these cute pink rollers!! Thanks for the post! Can’t wait for more=]

I love hot rollers. I would love to see more pics of how you set them in your hair and how you style it after you take the rollers out. Thx. Great job on the blog.
October 4th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
I definitely went out to Target last night and bought the hot rollers after reading this blog..lol. I couldnt find any thickening product however that wasnt “extra extra hold” mousse so I didnt get that yet. I hate that crunchy look and feel that the extra hold gives my hair. I havent tried the hot rollers yet, but Im very excited about it! I’ve been trying to curl my hair for YEARS and I’ve never been able to do it! Curling irons just cant get hot enough to make my fine hair curl right…Thanks for the advice!! Keep blogging hun!
October 4th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
Thanks so much for the tips. Please if you get a chance tell us how to roll them. Every time I try my curls go the wrong way and just look bad. Thanks so much for taking time to do this. They are very fun to read.
October 6th, 2009 at 1:13 pm
I went out and bought these on Saturday at Target. I used them to style my hair for my birthday bash on saturday evening and I’ve NEVER received so many compliments on my hair.
THANKS!!
October 6th, 2009 at 10:06 pm
i absolutely love these rollers!! I actually own 3 sets of these rollers that i use when i wear extensions for extra curl and volume. i grew up in the south where my Grandmother always said “the bigger the hair, the closer to God”.
p.s. Jenna you look absolutely gorgeous!!!
October 7th, 2009 at 4:19 am
I agree with another post I read, you do seem TOTALLY down to earth & would LOVE 2 hang w/ ya sometime! Lol So NEway — this A.M. I was on Twitter, found u (via @AubreyOday), started folloing u, & saw your blog url so started reading & guess what I DID yesterday afternoon??…
Well, I had2 go2 Target NEway 2 pick-up Diapers, Milk, etc.(you know, the “baby essentials” lol) but b4 I got the baby’s things, I headed STRAIGHT back to the “hair” aisle FIRST & picked up those SAME Remington hot rollers/curlers from your post about them!!
Used them in my hair last nite (just couldn’t resist from trying them) – I’m a TOTAL fashion/makeup/hair/beauty product of ANY kind, SLAVE ! Loved ‘em! — My hair isn’t thin EXACTALLY, it’s actually naturally curly.. when I’m in a hurry, I just toss some mousse in it, scrunch, & go. BUT…I think I look a lot better with straightened hair – sooo, I blow dry it straight, then straighten it w/ either my flat iron or fat curling iron. But SOMETIMES when I use my flatiron it makes my hair SO PIN straight that it has ABSOLUTELY no bounce – so THAT IS when I’d use my fat curling iron to put some fat curl/waves in it.. but OFCOURSE after an hour or 2, it’s like I didn’t even use the curling iron at all.
So I took ur recommendation & got the Remington rollers! THANK YOU JENNA!! (ALMOST picked up LashBlast as a recommendation from u as well LOL – but I don’t think I can stray from my Rimmell Mascara ♥ ) But PLEASE PLEASE keep posting — I think I speak for a lot of others when I say WE LOVE YOUR BEAUTY BLOG!! Keep the beauty tips a commin’ & we’ll keep a readin’!! lol ;D
A lil off topic from “beauty tips” – but I have a wordpress blog as well.. a little different from yours unfortunately. I have 2 children, eldest is Anthony-7yrs & younger is our 18 month old DEAR Daughter, Rowan Elizabeth who was born with Severe Hydrocephalus a.k.a. (fluid on/in the brain) & BECAUSE of the Hydro, she’s also developed severe Cerebral Palsy & Epilepsy.. There are lets say..”Band-Aid’s” for Hydrocephalus, to temporarily fix it, but people WITH the disease, like my daughter for instance, will have to undergo MANY MANY Brain surgeries in her lifetime BECAUSE OF this. (Has already had TWO MAJOR brain surgeries by the age of onlly 18mo.) So the Hydrocephalus Association is OFCOURSE always looking for a cure, members, & donations, but thats not why I’m telling u about her, please read on — The purpose of MY blog is just to inform the public about our day 2 day struggles (Therapy everyday of the week, Doctor’s apptmnts. 2 hours away) AND ALSO ofcourse, activities, milestones & positive things she accomplishes as well. So if u have the time (believe me, I can only imagine w/ twins what a busy lil lady you are!) ..but if you could stop by & take a peek at my blog, leave a comment, email me, twitter me — do WHATEVER, it’d mean a LOT to me, & hopefully to all of the other mothers who read MY blog daily
PLEASE don’t think tho that I only posted to you for you to read MY blog! lol Like I said, either way I’ll continue to read yours just b/c I think ur totally down to earth & I’m OBSESSED with any & all beauty tips, etc. !!
We’re all looking 4ward to more posts soon!!

I have never posted a comment on anything before but I had no choice with this one. I hate hot rollers! They burn your fingers and the little prongs NEVER keep them in place. That being said I read your blog and decided to try them. I went to Target and reluctantly purchased them. This is after I read the reviews on Target’s website. There were lot of complains about the clips not holding your hair and leaving a crease. I bought them anyway and I must say “I LOVE THEM!” They are awesome and SO easy to use. I was shocked! They didn’t give me a wave but instead some pretty intense curls that lasted all night. I felt like a different person and that was super fun. I never felt so glamorous on girl’s night out. Thanks for the blog. I am super stoked about my new toys
October 13th, 2009 at 9:25 am
Jenna, Can you show some pictures how to use these and then after pics so we can see how great it works? I really am contemplating buying this, I saw it at Target and its on sale!
